This website was created as a focal point for genealogists researching the surnames FONTAINE, FOUNTAIN, LAFONTAINE, LAFOUNTAIN, BIENVENU, WELCOME, PION and SPRING that are descendants of French immigrants that settled in New France (now known as Canada). For researchers seeking information on ancestors that immigrated to American soil, please see links below.

We are amateur genealogists, but we don't just give information away freely. A comparable exchange of information is expected. This is fair and helps keep everyone's cost down.

NEW GENEALOGY MICROFILM/BOOKS and PICTURES WANTED!

Current research has been focused on entering data from secondary sources (county and church repertoires). When a conflict is found, the original record is consulted as the final source. For Canadian records, the Drouin records are the best! They are microfilmed copies of the original church records for baptisms, marriages and burials.

We have not held an extended Fontaine family reunion in several years. It is doubtful there will be another one unless someone decides to organize. Anyone interested? If schedule permits, I (Tony) would love to attend and share information.

Pictures of past relatives or gravestones are always welcome. Pictures of past relatives provide a face to all the vital information we are collecting. Gravestones provide additional clues and help to fix any errors.
